Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Al Oxford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace dodges the punch combination from Oxford.
We've been told by Oxford's head coaches at Cozad MMA Montreal that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Oxford counters with a single leg into guard. Wallace didn't expect that.
Wallace wants to stand and escape but Oxford is having none of it.
Wallace not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Wallace has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Oxford can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Oxford throws an elbow that misses. Wallace uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Oxford's guard. Nice move by Wallace!

Oxford has a closed guard, preventing Wallace from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oxford has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wallace can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Oxford is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Oxford throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Wallace wants to control from the top but Oxford keeps moving.
Oxford wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Wallace wants to get up but he can't break Oxford's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Oxford looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Wallace is defending well. Oxford quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Wallace has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Oxford celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Al Oxford!
A relieved looking Al Oxford thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
