Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ron Gates (ranked 25242 p4p, 0 weight class) and ze ti (ranked 5702 p4p, 0 weight class). ze ti will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ti misses with a takedown

and Gates counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
ti is trying to pull guard but Gates turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gates throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Gates tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gates has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gates is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gates looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks ti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

ti is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Gates lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

ti dives in for a single leg takedown but Gates sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

ti wants to take the fight to the mat but Gates manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Gates's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
ti misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Gates closes the distance and pushes ti back into the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, ti creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
ti is trying to drag Gates to the mat but Gates just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gates gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from ti.

Gates pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gates has his hands on ti's head, controlling the position.
ti looking to sit in guard and control but Gates gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
