Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Craig Bartholemew (ranked 4032 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalid Al Saadoun (ranked 4935 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalid Al Saadoun acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Craig Bartholemew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Khalid Al Saadoun!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Saadoun has closed the distance and engaged Bartholemew in a clinch.
Bartholemew using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Al Saadoun has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Al Saadoun turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Al Saadoun sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bartholemew is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Al Saadoun is looking to take a break and control but Bartholemew is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Al Saadoun wants to stand but Bartholemew has his arm trapped.
Bartholemew tries to buck Al Saadoun off but Al Saadoun is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Al Saadoun is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bartholemew knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bartholemew can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Al Saadoun controls the pace.
Al Saadoun throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bartholemew works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Al Saadoun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bartholemew. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Al Saadoun wants to pass the guard but Bartholemew is keeping the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bartholemew controls Al Saadoun momentarily but Al Saadoun frees himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Al Saadoun feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bartholemew tries to land a sweep but no joy.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bartholemew is on top in guard.

Bartholemew tries to bum rush Al Saadoun with a series of wild strikes but Al Saadoun uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Al Saadoun stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Al Saadoun wants it to stay on the feet.

Al Saadoun changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bartholemew looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Al Saadoun slips a nice elbow through Bartholemew's hands, connecting with Bartholemew's forehead.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bartholemew is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Al Saadoun defends well.
Al Saadoun is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
