Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Dio (ranked 1705 p4p, 50 weight class) and Charles Kamen (ranked 2008 p4p, 87 weight class). Charles Kamen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Dio!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Kamen!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dio fails with a takedown attempt.
The fighters circle momentarily. Dio darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dio bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kamen's guard.

Dio content to control rather than advance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dio shoots in for a double leg but Kamen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Charles Kamen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dio wants to take the fight to the mat but Kamen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Kamen has a couple of punches blocked by Dio.
Dio has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kamen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kamen has Dio pressed against the cage, preventing Dio from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

I was talking to Dio's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Dio changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kamen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
John Dio is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kamen clinches up with Dio and pushes him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dio takes a shot to the head.
Oh Dio is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kamen lands a hook to the side of the head.
Dio wants a takedown but no success here.
Kamen lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Dio to his knees! Kamen keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

In his post fight interview, Charles Kamen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
