Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jones (ranked 2061 p4p, 84 weight class) and Ricky Monroe (ranked 2724 p4p, 108 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Take my hand blaring out of the sound system. Monroe is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Deep Ocean - Island drumming. Brian Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
20 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Ricky Monroe!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Monroe blocks a head kick by Jones.
Monroe has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Monroe moves into the clinch.
Monroe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones prevents Monroe from improving his position.
Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Monroe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Monroe trying to control but Jones postures up.
Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Monroe gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Monroe looking to control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Monroe is on top in guard.
Jones working for a triangle but Monroe defends it easily.
Monroe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones looking for a triangle here. Monroe is fighting it but it looks tight! Jones pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Monroe is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Brian Jones!
After winning the bout, Brian Jones thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
