Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Ustinov (ranked 3593 p4p, 373 weight class) and Akihito Yamato (ranked 3630 p4p, 375 weight class). Ustinov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is ENERGIA!. Akihito Yamato will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yuri Ustinov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akihito Yamato!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamato scores with a shot to the body.
Ustinov darts in trying to clinch
and Yamato counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ustinov avoids the body shot from Yamato.

Yamato tries to keep at a distance but Ustinov has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ustinov is trying to pull guard but Yamato turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Yamato.
A nice left hand lands by Yamato.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ustinov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Yamato gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Yamato working hard to break the clinch.
Ustinov blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Yamato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Yamato lands a nice looking body shot.
Yamato throws the left hand but Ustinov avoids the punch easily.
Ustinov tries to clinch up
and Yamato cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Yamato checks a leg kick.
Yamato throws an overhand right that lands on Ustinov's shoulder, as Ustinov tries to avoid the shot.
Ustinov closes the distance looking to clinch
and Yamato counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Yamato misses with an uppercut.
Ustinov tries to clinch but Yamato is having none of it.
Yamato let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Ustinov misses with a takedown
and Yamato connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yuri Ustinov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Yamato uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ustinov.
Yamato has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Ustinov gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ustinov controls the position.

Ustinov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Yamato tries to buck Ustinov off but Ustinov is having none of it.

Ustinov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ustinov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Yamato's shoulder. That is not cool.

Ustinov has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Yamato is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ustinov yanks on the arm and Yamato is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ustinov.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Yuri Ustinov!
Yuri Ustinov spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
