PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dean Corll (ranked 1639 p4p, 197 weight class) and Blind Shaman (ranked 2099 p4p, 252 weight class). Corll kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Candyman. Shaman has chosen Shaman's Dream as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blind Shaman!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaman moves out of range as Corll strikes.
Corll misses with a lunging right hand
and Shaman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Corll thows a left - swing and a miss!
Corll takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Dean Corll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Corll throws a hook but Shaman blocks it.
Shaman moves out of range of the strikes.
Shaman tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Shaman.
Shaman takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Shaman throws an overhand right that lands on Corll's shoulder, as Corll tries to avoid the shot.

Corll throws the left hand but Shaman avoids the punch easily.
Shaman was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Corll lands a nice hook to Shaman's body. Shaman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Shaman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Corll avoids it really well and circles away.
Shaman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Corll sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Shaman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Corll sprawls well initially but Shaman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Shaman wants to control the pace but Corll is squirming around nicely.

Shaman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corll keeps working.
Shaman prevents Corll from improving his position.
Shaman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Let's hope that Shaman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Shaman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Shaman wants to work for an arm triangle but Corll is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shaman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Corll with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaman finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Shaman.

Shaman shoots for a double leg takedown but Corll sprawls well. He's pushed Shaman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Shaman darts in looking for a takedown but Corll gets double underhooks and turns Shaman into the cage.

Corll can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shaman controls the pace.

Shaman is pushing down on Corll's leg trying to pass to half guard. Corll is fighting to maintain full guard but Shaman has managed to sneak the leg through.

Shaman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Corll defends it well.

Well Shaman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
