PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cian Cartwright (ranked 1744 p4p, 212 weight class) and Harry Kane (ranked 3388 p4p, 355 weight class). Cartwright comes to the cage accompanied by Engulfed by Darkness. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cian Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harry Kane!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cartwright gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Cartwright is trying to drag Kane to the mat but Kane just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kane creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Kane goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kane has Cartwright pushed against the cage.
Cartwright avoids a wild elbow strike from Kane.
Kane lands a right hand that snaps the head of Cartwright backwards.
Cartwright tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kane just stands there and leans against the cage.
Cartwright jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kane walks away with a smile on his face. Cartwright gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kane misses with a low kick.

Kane gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cartwright to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane wants to get back to his feet but Cartwright is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kane swings for the body but Cartwright moves out of range.
Cartwright shoots in looking for a takedown but Kane manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cartwright's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cartwright shoots in looking for a takedown. Kane tries to sprawl out of it but Cartwright keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cartwright shoots in but no luck this time.
Kane throws a good cross that connects.
Cartwright takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Cartwright darts in and clinches Kane up against the cage.
Cartwright jumps guard but Kane turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cartwright is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kane to keep the fight standing.
Cartwright is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kane is defending well.

Cartwright has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kane uses from the top position.
Cartwright is breathing heavily.
Cartwright wants to sweep here but Kane controlling him for the moment.

Cartwright is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kane escapes and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kane stuffs the takedown.
Cartwright shoots in for a takedown but Kane shows good takedown defense.

Cartwright clinches with his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cartwright dives in and grabs Kane's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kane pushes down on Cartwright's head and hops out.
Kane bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Kane throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kane lands a really nice looking cross but Cartwright seems unphased.
Kane lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Cartwright falls backwards - clearly groggy! Kane dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harry Kane!
Harry Kane tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
