Schmeiser kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is David vs Monsanto. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 5 losses; Percy Schmeiser! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Andrey Lapis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Schmeiser darts in and clinches Lapis up against the ropes.
I was talking to Schmeiser's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Lapis pulls Schmeiser into guard.
Schmeiser wants to pass the guard but Lapis is keeping the position.

Lapis is looking to sweep but instead, Schmeiser has passed into half guard.
Schmeiser trying to control from half guard but Lapis is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schmeiser seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Schmeiser is looking to take a break and control but Lapis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Schmeiser can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lapis is looking to escape.

Lapis wants to hold on but Schmeiser pushes him away.
Lapis is desperately trying to improve his position but Schmeiser has a good base and remains in mount.
Schmeiser takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lapis is trying to roll into a better position but Schmeiser has get a rear naked choke and Lapis is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
