PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Keon Fazeli (ranked 4473 p4p, 471 weight class) and Killian Armstrong (ranked 4445 p4p, 468 weight class). Fazeli comes into the arena with Nobody Compares To You blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Keon Fazeli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Killian Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, John Mangel and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fazeli looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Keon Fazeli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fazeli just misses with a punch to the body.

Fazeli closes the distance and clinches.
Fazeli is trying to pull guard but Armstrong turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Armstrong is stalling here.
A nice right hand lands inside from Armstrong.
Armstrong digs a right hand underneath Fazeli's ribcage. Fazeli let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Fazeli has picked Armstrong up - he's going for a ride! Fazeli dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Armstrong felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Armstrong can do anything to dispel that myth.

Armstrong looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Fazeli shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Armstrong pinned against the cage. Armstrong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fazeli seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Armstrong for as long as he can get away with.

Fazeli shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Armstrong sprawls well. Armstrong wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fazeli gets slowly back to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Armstrong! But no joy.
Fazeli tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Armstrong defends well and Fazeli ends up having to push Armstrong into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Fazeli changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Armstrong tries to avoid it but Fazeli manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Armstrong to the ground. Armstrong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Armstrong! But no joy.
Fazeli tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Armstrong connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Armstrong moves into range and connects with a jab.
Armstrong lands a right hook to the body.
Fazeli goes for a double leg but Armstrong avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Armstrong continues to drive forward.

and Fazeli takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Horrible takedown attempt by Fazeli or perhaps it was just good defense by Armstrong, which made it look bad.
Oh Fazeli is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Armstrong drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Fazeli right on the button. Fazeli goes down! Armstrong follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Armstrong gets the win via TKO!
