Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Smith!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Diaz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Smith - the referee stops the clock and Diaz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Smith. Diaz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Smith with a nice cross.


It looks like Jeff Diaz has been cut.
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Diaz.
Smith connects with a solid leg kick.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Diaz feints the counter takedown.
Smith lands with a cross.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Diaz does a little dance to reset his feet.
Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.
John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Diaz eats them both and turns towards Smith to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Diaz dives in and scores a takedown into Smith's guard.
Diaz trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Diaz is controlling him.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Diaz is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
Diaz lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Smith wants to stand and escape but Diaz is having none of it.
Smith is pulling down on Diaz's head. It's preventing any offense from Diaz, at least for the moment.
Diaz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Smith is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Diaz presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Smith has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Diaz jumps guard but Smith turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A lazy body kick from Smith

and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.
Smith is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym ($800/Week) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Diaz prevents Smith from getting back to his feet.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Diaz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Diaz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
Diaz prevents Smith from getting back to his feet.
Diaz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.
Diaz cracks Smith with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith pushes Diaz off and gets back to his feet.
Diaz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smith scores with a jab to the head.
Diaz on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Smith shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Smith lands a big right hand that sends Diaz crashing to the mat! Smith stays standing though and waves Diaz back to his feet!


Diaz is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith misses with a left hand

and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Diaz off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Smith misses with an uppercut. Diaz saw that one coming.

Smith cracks Diaz with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Smith has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Diaz to stand back up!
Diaz is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Diaz bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Smith comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Diaz falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Diaz was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Smith!
John Smith retains his super heavyweight title!
John Smith spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
