PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pacer Dalton (ranked 5366 p4p, 613 weight class) and General Snus (ranked 5031 p4p, 595 weight class). General Snus told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pacer Dalton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, General Snus!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Snus as he avoids it easily.
Dalton shoots in looking for a takedown. Snus tries to sprawl out of it but Dalton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Snus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dalton misses with a takedown attempt - Snus sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pacer Dalton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dalton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Snus!

Snus throws Dalton to one side and escapes!
Pacer Dalton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dalton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Snus quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dalton is taking a breather. Snus says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Snus pushes Dalton off looking to stand but Dalton dives back in and keeps control.

Dalton wants to pass to mount but Snus is defending the position.

Dalton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dalton works his way into full mount!
Snus tries to buck Dalton off but he can't manage it.

Dalton won't let Snus get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Dalton content just to control the position here.
Dalton's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Snus felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Dalton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Snus for as long as he can get away with.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Snus really wants to buck Dalton off and get back to his feet.
Snus is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

It looks like Pacer Dalton has been cut.
Snus lands an overhand right.

Dalton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Snus did well to prevent Dalton getting side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dalton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Snus avoids it really well and circles away.

Dalton goes for a double leg but Snus avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Snus continues to drive forward.

and Snus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Dalton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Snus did well to prevent Dalton getting side control.
Well, if Dalton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Dalton content to control rather than advance.
Snus wants to get back to his feet.
Dalton moves into full mount! Snus won't be happy about that!

Snus squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Snus's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dalton pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Dalton controls the position.
Dalton continues to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pacer Dalton will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Pacer Dalton's cut.
That's time! Dalton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Dalton doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Snus counters with a stiff right hand.
Dalton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Snus.

Snus lands a left and a right that send Dalton crashing to the mat, dazed. Snus thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Snus jabs Dalton to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Dalton takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dalton shoots in looking for a takedown but Snus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dalton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Snus lands with an uppercut that bounces Dalton off the cage and back into range.


Dalton is rocked!


Pacer Dalton's cut is getting worse.
Dalton closes the distance and clinches up with Snus, looking for a takedown. Dalton pushes Snus against the cage but Snus circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oh Dalton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Snus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dalton to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Dalton seems to have got his legs back now.
Snus wants to stand up but Dalton is controlling him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Snus pushes Dalton off and scrambles back to his feet.

Snus cracks Dalton with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Dalton looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Snus finish him?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snus lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). General Snus!
A less than humble General Snus misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
