Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Disco Kid (ranked 7894 p4p, 334 weight class) and Billy Marven (ranked 24934 p4p, 368 weight class). Billy Marven is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Marven!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marven tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kid swivels and escapes.

Marven gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Marven keeping full guard, as Kid tries to pass.
Marven is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Marven throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Marven lands an upkick as Kid stands over him.

Kid drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kid jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kid forces his way into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kid trying to pass the guard but Marven defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kid is looking for a kimura here.

Marven is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kid looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kid is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marven doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kid.

Kid is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kid is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Marven has managed to free his arm - good work.
Marven really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kid perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Kid is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kid works his foot free and advances to mount.

Kid has control of Marven's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Marven regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kid wants to finish this one by submission but Marven is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kid.

Kid looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Kid is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Marven to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Marven shrugs it off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kid with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Kid working for a guillotine from mount but Marven is in no mood to give up.
Kid lands a nice shot to the head.

Kid is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Marven to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Marven shrugs it off.

Kid has hold of Marven's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Marven manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kid is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Marven has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kid lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Disco Kid dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kid fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Marven sprawls well initially but Kid persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Marven is trying to escape back to his feet but Kid uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Kid working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kid takes a little break here. Marven wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Kid connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Marven some visible discomfort.
Disco Kid overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kid grinds an elbow into Marven's temple.
Marven is looking for a sweep.

Kid has hold of Marven's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Marven tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kid cranks the arm and Marven screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Marven, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
