Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anibal Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niko Jaeppinen!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Jaeppinen as he connects with a hook.


Anibal Petersen's cut is getting worse.
Jaeppinen throws a head kick that misses.
It looked like Petersen was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jaeppinen.

Petersen takes the fight into the clinch.
Jaeppinen tries a knee to the head but Petersen blocks it.
Jaeppinen looking to throw knees to the head but Petersen is blocking nicely.

Jaeppinen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Petersen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jaeppinen misses with a two punch combination.

Jaeppinen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Petersen is looking to escape.
Petersen is positioning himself well to prevent Jaeppinen advancing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Petersen scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Jaeppinen manages to mount him!

Jaeppinen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Petersen is trying desperately to improve position.

Jaeppinen is landing with some decent strikes but Petersen is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Petersen is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Petersen suckers Jaeppinen into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Petersen is now in Jaeppinen's guard!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jaeppinen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jaeppinen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jaeppinen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!


Anibal Petersen's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Jaeppinen throws an elbow that misses. Petersen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jaeppinen's guard. Nice move by Petersen!

Petersen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jaeppinen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Petersen puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Jaeppinen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Petersen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jaeppinen's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Petersen moves into the clinch successfully.

Jaeppinen decides to pull guard.
Jaeppinen looking for a sweep. Not yet Jaeppinen, not yet.
Jaeppinen pulls Petersen in to control the position.
Jaeppinen thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jaeppinen is pulling down on Petersen's head. It's preventing any offense from Petersen, at least for the moment.
Petersen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaeppinen pulls Petersen in close to his closed guard and prevents Petersen from doing any damage or advancing position.
Jaeppinen is trying to keep Petersen in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Petersen darts in and clinches Jaeppinen up against the cage.
Jaeppinen on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Petersen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jaeppinen lands with an overhand left.

Jaeppinen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Petersen being controlled for a moment.

Jaeppinen fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jaeppinen creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Jaeppinen in side control lands a decent elbow.
Jaeppinen controlling the position.
Petersen is trying to improve his position.

Jaeppinen looks up at the clock and then as Petersen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jaeppinen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Jaeppinen is trying to ground and pound but Petersen uses the momentary lack of control by Jaeppinen to regain half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Jaeppinen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Petersen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jaeppinen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Petersen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jaeppinen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jaeppinen's back!
Niko Jaeppinen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jaeppinen trying to control the position but Petersen manages to sink in the hooks.
Petersen trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Jaeppinen just trying to survive but Petersen is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Petersen is trying to stick to Jaeppinen's back but Jaeppinen is turning into Petersen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Petersen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jaeppinen.

A close second round but Niko Jaeppinen will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Petersen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jaeppinen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Petersen can't fight it off and eventually Jaeppinen manages to take the fight to the floor. Petersen looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jaeppinen tries to free his leg and advance position but Petersen is retaining full guard.
Jaeppinen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Jaeppinen is stalling in the full guard.
Jaeppinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petersen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jaeppinen wants to control from the top but Petersen keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jaeppinen looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Jaeppinen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Petersen is in close to Jaeppinen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Petersen throws a big elbow that misses.
Jaeppinen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Petersen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Jaeppinen wants to sweep here but Petersen controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Niko Jaeppinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jaeppinen feints and as Petersen raises his hands in defense, Jaeppinen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Petersen is looking to stand up but Jaeppinen isn't so interested in that idea.
Jaeppinen trying to control the position from guard on top but Petersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Niko Jaeppinen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Petersen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Petersen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

And that's the end of the fight!
Niko Jaeppinen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jaeppinen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
