Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bill Hicks (ranked 2402 p4p, 270 weight class) and Alvaro Ortaga (ranked 1407 p4p, 180 weight class). Hicks comes to the cage accompanied by Bill Hicks at Dangerfields. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hicks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ortaga was well out of range. Poor timing from Hicks.
A big left from Hicks misses.
Ortaga throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ortaga throws a series of punches but Hicks moves out of range.
Ortaga ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hicks moves away.
Hicks swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Nice jab there from Hicks.
Ortaga misses with an uppercut.
Ortaga missing with a left hand there. Hicks was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ortaga fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hicks manages to avoid it.
Ortaga fails with the takedown.
Hicks walks into a jab.
Hicks moves out of range as Ortaga strikes.
Hicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ortaga.
Hicks throws a lazy right hand but Ortaga sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ortaga throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Alvaro Ortaga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters circling - Hicks throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ortaga throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A telegraphed right hand from Ortaga misses the target.
Ortaga scores with a jab to the body.
Hicks misses with a body shot.
Ortaga throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ortaga will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ortaga dives in and scores a takedown into Hicks's guard.
Ortaga throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ortaga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ortaga is pushing down on Hicks's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hicks is fighting to maintain full guard but Ortaga has managed to sneak the leg through.

Hicks has hold of Ortaga's hands but Ortaga slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hicks wants to control the action here but instead Ortaga manages to pass to full mount!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ortaga landing strikes from the mount and Hicks is in trouble!
Hicks is trying desperately to improve position.
Hicks is working hard here to advance position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ortaga takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ortaga's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hicks can't escape the position.
Ortaga lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Ortaga pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Oh Hicks is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hicks is working to get back to half guard.
Ortaga is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hicks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Ortaga cracks Hicks with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hicks takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Ortaga's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
