PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight kickboxing rules bout between Rami Astalo (ranked 2374 p4p, 121 weight class) and Michel De Haven (ranked 22252 p4p, 371 weight class). Astalo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff. Michel De Haven told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Haven misses with a low kick.
Astalo misses with a body shot.
Astalo thuds his right hand into De Haven's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Astalo slips under a jab.
De Haven has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
De Haven throws an overhand right that lands on Astalo's shoulder, as Astalo tries to avoid the shot.

De Haven throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Astalo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Astalo looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Michel De Haven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

De Haven on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

De Haven throws an off balance right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
De Haven tried to score with a low kick but Astalo checks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

That kick from Astalo tenderised De Haven's leg. De Haven is trying to keep his angry face on.
Astalo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and De Haven has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
De Haven's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Astalo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! De Haven scrambles back to his feet.

De Haven swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Astalo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
De Haven misses with a looping left.
De Haven's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
De Haven throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Astalo counters with a slapping leg kick.
De Haven rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Astalo to counter with a crisp jab.

A little feinted left hand from Astalo on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Astalo connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of De Haven's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked De Haven - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!
