PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Wilson (ranked 6723 p4p, 626 weight class) and Mungo Jerry (ranked 6226 p4p, 593 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mungo Jerry!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Jerry.
Jerry shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wilson defends it nicely.
Wilson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Jerry.

Jerry gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Wilson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Wilson pulls Jerry in close to his closed guard and prevents Jerry from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Wilson tries to sprawl but Jerry drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Jerry is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wilson's half guard.
Wilson tries to kick Jerry off in order to stand up. Jerry Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Jerry is looking to take a break and control but Wilson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Wilson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mungo Jerry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wilson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Jerry tries to bum rush Wilson with a series of wild strikes but Wilson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wilson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Jerry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jerry!

Jerry dives in and grabs Wilson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wilson pushes down on Jerry's head and hops out.

Wilson tries to stall but Jerry uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jerry is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Wilson is defending well for now.
Jerry is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wilson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Steve Wilson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mungo Jerry.
A frustrated look appears on Wilson's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Jerry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jerry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jerry really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Wilson.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mungo Jerry showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Jerry throws a right hand that Wilson ducks under and follows up with a left that Wilson also avoids with ease.

Steve Wilson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

No joy there for Jerry, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jerry bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jerry throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wilson throws a right and a left that Jerry avoids nicely.

Jerry closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wilson's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wilson is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mungo Jerry comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jerry has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
