PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Soul Jah (ranked 315 p4p, 33 weight class) and Wabricio Ferdum (ranked 2047 p4p, 224 weight class). Jah comes to the cage accompanied by Bob Marley - Buffalo Soldier. Ferdum has chosen PARIS - the devil made me do it as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Soul Jah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wabricio Ferdum!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferdum feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jahs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ferdum tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jah sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ferdum somewhat.

Jah gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ferdum throwing strikes but missing.
Jah is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ferdum throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jah uses it to pass to side control.
Ferdum manages to get back to half guard.
Ferdum wants to improve his position but Jah is controlling well.
Ferdum has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ferdum is pressing down on Jah's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Ferdum escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jah gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ferdum is looking for a triangle but Jah pushes his legs off easily.

Ferdum is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jah is aware though and is defending well.

Jah avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Ferdum escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jah gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jah is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jah would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jah takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jah drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ferdum ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Ferdum connects with a body shot that sends Jah's belly button to the back.
Ferdum fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jah uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ferdum.
A little feinted left hand from Jah on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wabricio Ferdum dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A slow jab from Ferdum misses its intended target.
Ferdum takes a swing at Jah's ribcage but misses.
Jah appears to be looking for a big counter.
Ferdum tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jah was well out of range. Poor timing from Ferdum.
Ferdum is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Jah rather than just go for the knockout.
Ferdum slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Ferdum shoots in and bounces Jah off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jah is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Jah looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Ferdum postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Ferdum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jah swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jah utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jah not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jah is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wabricio Ferdum has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ferdum gets back to full guard.

Ferdum looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jah passes into half guard.

Ferdum throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ferdum manages to get to full guard.

Ferdum is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jah rolls with it to try and escape but Ferdum cranks on the arm and Jah is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wabricio Ferdum!
