PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Kirby (ranked 7341 p4p, 584 weight class) and Kelvin Jackson (ranked 3918 p4p, 410 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Kirby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kelvin Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson scores with a leg kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Jackson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Jackson lands a head kick!
Jackson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Jackson lands with an uppercut that bounces Kirby off the cage and back into range.
Jackson throws a leg kick which misses Kirby's front leg but catches the back leg as Kirby tries to avoid it.
Jackson scores with a kick to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kirby shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kirby showed some decent athleticism there.
Jackson tries to roll over but Kirby keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kirby tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kirby takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kelvin Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jackson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kirby at a distance.
Kirby takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Jackson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kirby stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Kirby. Kirby gets slowly back to his feet.

Kirby pulls Jackson in close to his closed guard and prevents Jackson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Kirby throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kirby is defended easily by Jackson.

Kirby moves forwards but Jackson connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Kirby closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kirby lands in his opponent's guard.

Jake Kirby overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kirby stands up over Jackson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kirby keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jackson's head.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Kirby walks into a stiff left hand from Jackson.
Kirby takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Kirby shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kirby was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kirby lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jackson down.
Jackson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kirby connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Kirby sits in half guard.

Kirby is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kirby winds up and cracks Jackson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kirby thows a huge punch but Jackson dodges it nicely.
Jackson is looking to control Kirby's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted?
