Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Murdock (ranked 5851 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lawler (ranked 8505 p4p, 0 weight class). Murdock comes into the arena with Flashbacks to 'Nam blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Murdock as he avoids it easily.
A solid leg kick lands there for Murdock.
Lawler closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lawler goes for a takedown attempt but Murdock pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Murdock clobbers Lawler with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Murdock punishes Lawler's body with a nice straight punch.
Murdock has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Arm Breakers/BJJ in the buildup to the fight.

Murdock clinches.
Murdock softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Murdock lands a body shot in the clinch.
Murdock throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lawlers head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Murdock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lawler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Murdock avoids it really well and circles away.
Frank Murdock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Lawler.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murdock jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Murdock throws a head kick but Lawler moves out of range.
Murdock lands with a right hand.

Lawler is rocked!
Murdock throws an overhand right that drops Lawler like a sack of potatoes! Murdock dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

In his post fight interview, Frank Murdock started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
