PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grin Ribber (ranked 203 p4p, 26 weight class) and Nathan Silver (ranked 989 p4p, 96 weight class). Ribber kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ay Ay Ay. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver misses with a body shot.
Ribber pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Silver back to the cage. Ribber follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Silver scores with a push kick.
Ribber cracks Silver with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ribber cracks the inside of Silver's front leg.
Ribber looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Silver misses with a hook
and Ribber counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Silver chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ribber can pounce on him.
Silver throws a big shot that misses.

Ribber looking to score a takedown here. Silver is defending well but Ribber drives through and ends up in Silver's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ribber is looking for a triangle but Silver pushes his legs off easily.

My spies in Cats Killers Academy Mma inform me that Silver has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Ribber is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silver defends well.
Ribber looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silver is one step ahead there.
Ribber is trying to hold Silver in close to prevent damage but Silver has managed to pass into half guard.
Ribber is looking to control Silver's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ribber avoid being mounted?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ribber tries to roll over but Silver keeps him under control.
Silver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ribber does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Silver passes the guard and advances to mount!
Silver wants to get back to his feet but Ribber is holding on tight.

Silver has control of Ribber's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ribber regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ribber is desperately trying to improve his position but Silver has a good base and remains in mount.

Silver wants to get back to his feet but Ribber is holding on tight.
Silver mounts Ribber! Really nice guard pass there!

Silver get's back to his feet.
Silver throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A nice inside leg kick there by Ribber. That's going to slow Silver down.
Ribber throws out a loose jab but Silver uses good head movement to avoid it.

Ribber closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Silver's guard.
Silver wants to stand up but Ribber is controlling him.
Ribber makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Silver tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ribber trying to control the position from guard on top but Silver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silver is looking to stand up but Ribber isn't so interested in that idea.
Silver is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ribber keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Silver's head.
Ribber won't allow Silver to get back to his feet.
Ribber missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Silver is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ribber accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Silver kicks Ribber off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grin Ribber dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ribber moves out of range as Silver strikes.
Ribber connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Silver's hands.
A head kick misses from Ribber.
Silver steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ribber. That one must have hurt.
Ribber uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Silver.

Ribber shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Silver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ribber gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Grin Ribber overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Silver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ribber is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ribber lands a couple of elbows.

Silver looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Ribber is defending well. Silver quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Ribber has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Silver celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
