Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Simond (ranked 6074 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Janky (ranked 8299 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simond throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Simond goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
It seemed like Janky was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Simond misses with a looping left.
Janky swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Simond misses with an uppercut.
Janky avoids a punch combination nicely.
Simond lands a two punch combo.
Janky feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Simonds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Simond has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad MMA New York in the buildup to the fight.
Simond throws a right hand that Janky ducks under and follows up with a left that Janky also avoids with ease.
Janky tests Simond's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Simond swings for the body but Janky moves out of range.
Jeff Simond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simond scores with a three punch combo!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Janky lands a really nice looking cross but Simond seems unphased.
Simond moves out of range as Janky strikes.
Simond takes one to the side of the head.
Simond misses with a body shot.

Janky throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Simond.
Janky connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Simond misses with a low kick.
Janky looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Janky throws a jab when Simond was well out of range.
Janky throws a body shot but no joy.

Janky gets caught flat footed, as Simond shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Janky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simond is one step ahead there.
Janky is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Simond is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Janky preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Janky trying to keep a closed guard but Simond is proving a slippery customer.
Simond stands and throws Janky's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Janky is trying to control Simond's posture but Simond avoids it.
Janky wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Janky tries to buck Simond off but Simond is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Simond passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Janky!

Simond is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Janky has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Simond is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Janky is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Janky flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Simond anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Janky and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Simond slips an arm under Janky chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Simond has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Simond is squeezing on Janky like an anaconda would it's prey. Janky fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
