The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.

Gites dives in for a single leg takedown but Deeds sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Gites sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Deeds's guard.
Gites wants to take a breather but Deeds is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Deeds's coaches at AREA 51 have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Deeds wants to get back to full guard.
Gites trying to control from half guard but Deeds is working away.
Gites tries to pass the half guard into mount. Deeds knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Gites is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Deeds sees it coming and defends easily.
Gites is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Gites wants to control but Deeds is keeping him busy.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Deeds makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Deeds.
Gites wants to pass the guard but Deeds is keeping the position.
Gites must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gites trying to control but Deeds is working from the bottom.
Gites stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Deeds swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Deeds tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Deeds is trying to keep Gites in close.
Gites stands and throws Deeds's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Deeds is not content to let Gites control the position.

Gites is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Deeds knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Deeds tries to buck Gites off but Gites is having none of it.
Deeds is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gites's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Deeds has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gites is working away from the top position though.

Deeds looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Gites looking to improve position, pressing down on Deeds's thigh with his hand. Deeds seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Gites paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Gites's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Deeds picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
