Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Sklemin (ranked 109 p4p, 20 weight class) and Taiga Jim (ranked 76 p4p, 12 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Sklemin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taiga Jim!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Sklemin misses
and Jim counters with a one-two to the body.
Jim takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jim slips a jab from Sklemin.
Sklemin throws a jab but it's blocked by Jim.
Sklemin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Jim misses with a body shot.

Sklemin instigates a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Sklemin.
Sklemin is trying to stall.
Sklemin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jim misses with a hook from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sklemin misses with a punch on the inside.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Sklemin.
Sklemin blocks a body shot from Jim.
Jim lands a shoulder strike.
Jim working aggressively here.
Jim misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jim gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Well, if Jim is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sklemin wants to control but Jim is keeping busy.
Sklemin tries to roll over but Jim keeps him under control.

Jim's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Jim prevents Sklemin from standing back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sklemin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sklemin misses with a two punch combination.
Sklemin misses with a right hand
and Jim counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sklemin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Jim keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sklemin.
Sklemin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jim paws at him with a jab and circles away.
It seemed like Jim was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Jim takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sklemin misses with a straight left.
Jim scores with a shot to the body.
Jim throws out a loose jab but Sklemin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sergey Sklemin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sklemin looks to land a left hand but Jim moved out of range nicely.
Sklemin tries to clinch up but Jim circles away and keeps his distance.
Sklemin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jims jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Nice body punch from Jim.
Nice uppercut lands for Jim. That snapped Sklemin's head back.
and Jim counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Sklemin! He's just covering up as Jim starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Taiga Jim!
Taiga Jim decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
