The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rock dodges the punch combination from Valentine.

Rock has Valentine up against the cage in a clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Rock obliges.
Rock misses with a knee strike.
Valentine is trying to force a seperation but Rock has the dominant position.
Valentine tries to break the clinch but Rock is controlling the position.
Rock throws a punch but it's blocked by Valentine.
Rock jumps guard but Valentine stands there with Rock around his waist. Rock gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rock tries to pull guard but Valentine forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Valentine is trying to force a seperation but Rock has the dominant position.
Rock misses with a knee strike.
Rock lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Corey Valentine has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice uppercut lands for Valentine. That snapped Rock's head back.


It looks like Slipp Rock has been cut.
Rock throws a sloppy head kick and Valentine moves out of range easily.
Valentine lands with a hook. Rock tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


Rock is rocked!
Slipp Rock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valentine keeps the fight on the outside.

Rock closes the distance and clinches.
A short right from Rock on the inside.
Valentine blocks the elbow strike.
Rock throws a head punch that misses.
Rock fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slipp Rock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Valentine wants to get back to striking at distance but Rock won't allow it.
Rock tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Rock misses with a body punch.
Rock tries to land a knee to the head but Valentine blocks with his arms.

Rock is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Valentine to keep the fight standing.
Valentine takes a knee right on the jaw!
Rock is working Valentine over against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Valentine avoids a wild elbow strike from Rock.

Rock pulls Valentine into guard.

Rock is looking for a triangle but Valentine pushes his legs off easily.
Rock is trying to control the position but Valentine postures up.
Rock keeping full guard, as Valentine tries to pass.

Valentine trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rock's guard.

Valentine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rock working for a triangle but Valentine defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Valentine wants to control from the top but Rock keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Valentine lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Valentine feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Rock sprawling to the canvas! Rock rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Valentine finish him?!
Oh Rock is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Valentine darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Rock's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Valentine before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Corey Valentine!
Corey Valentine really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that RISE Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
