PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Killer (ranked 23675 p4p, 832 weight class) and Taivon Arsett (ranked 23757 p4p, 869 weight class). Arsett comes into a darkened arena with his song building. MGK- Till I die kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ed Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Taivon Arsett!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killer thumps Arsett with a low kick.
Killer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Arsett momentarily.
Arsett steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Killer.
Nice uppercut lands for Killer. That snapped Arsett's head back.
Arsett ducks under a wild hook from Killer.

Arsett looking to score a takedown here. Killer is defending well but Arsett drives through and ends up in Killer's guard.
Killer working a defensive guard here.
Killer is looking to stand up but Arsett isn't so interested in that idea.
Arsett is in close to Killer's body, working some short punches and elbows.


It looks like Ed Killer has been cut.
Arsett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Arsett is looking to work some ground and pound but Killer has wrist control.

Arsett stops Killer from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Arsett lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

and Arsett counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killer won't be happy with that.
Killer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Arsett wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

and Arsett counters with an inside leg kick.

and Arsett counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killer won't be happy with that.
Killer is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Arsett is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Killer's shoulder. That is not cool.
Killer wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ground and pound from Arsett seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Killer is trying to get back to half guard.

Killer is pushing Arsett's head away, looking to escape. Arsett manages to hold on to the position though.

Killer throws a series of punches but Arsett avoids them all with ease.
Killer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Arsett moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Killer throws a left and a right that both miss

and Arsett decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Killer's guard.
Arsett is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Arsett slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Arsett stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Killer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Killer is trying to control the position but Arsett postures up.

A close round but Taivon Arsett will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Arsett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Killer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Arsett moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Killer misses with a double jab.
Arsett tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Killer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Arsett drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Killer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Arsett controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Killer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Arsett's guard.

Killer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arsett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Killer trying to control the position from guard on top but Arsett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Arsett looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Killer wants to control from the top but Arsett keeps moving.
Killer preventing the sweep.
Arsett pulls Killer in close to prevent any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Arsett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Killer is aware though and is defending well.
Arsett keeping moving, preventing Killer from controlling successfully.
Killer is fighting to break Arsett's control of his arms but Arsett is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Arsett tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Killer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Killer misses with a head kick.

Killer swats away the attempt to clinch by Arsett.

Arsett tries to counter with a clinch but Killer shakes him off and moves away.

Killer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Arsett counters with a three punch combo that has Killer backing up. Killer nods at Arsett to acknowledge the strikes.
Killer looks to land a right hand but Arsett moved out of range.
Killer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Killer throws out a powerful jab.
Killer misses with a lunging right hand
and Arsett counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Killer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Arsett tries to free his leg and advance position but Killer is retaining full guard.
Taivon Arsett has got the better of the ground game so far.
Arsett lands a couple of elbows.
Killer is trying to keep Arsett in close.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Arsett had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Killer defends it easily.

Arsett shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Killer as he avoids it easily.

Killer misses the shot to the body.
Arsett tries to counter with a clinch but Killer shakes him off and moves away.
Killer misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Killer misses with a head kick.
Killer blocks a head kick by Arsett.
Ed Killer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Taivon Arsett is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Arsett closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ed Killer.
I think Arsett has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Taivon Arsett rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
