PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thor DeNeuve (ranked 2692 p4p, 239 weight class) and Wilner Fatiman (ranked 2332 p4p, 213 weight class). Fatiman has chosen Zion Train as his entrance music. Wilner Fatiman is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thor DeNeuve!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wilner Fatiman!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - DeNeuve throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
DeNeuve lands with a nice body punch.
A left lands for DeNeuve.


It looks like Wilner Fatiman has been cut.
DeNeuve displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fatiman.
DeNeuve appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
DeNeuve lunges at Fatiman with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fatiman's hand.
Fatiman takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Fatiman doesn't manage to clinch there - DeNeuve circles away.
An attempted straight right counter from DeNeuve misses the target.
Fatiman misses with a kick to the body.
DeNeuve is looking to counter punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fatiman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. DeNeuve tries to avoid it but Fatiman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag DeNeuve to the ground. DeNeuve escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fatiman tries to close the distance and clinch but DeNeuve swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
DeNeuve connects with a single shot there.
Fatiman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has DeNeuve pinned against the cage. DeNeuve gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Thor DeNeuve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilner Fatiman.

DeNeuve gets in close and instigates a clinch.
DeNeuve scores with a nice hook to the head.
DeNeuve is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
The referee is keeping an eye on DeNeuve - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A short right from DeNeuve.
DeNeuve avoiding damage.
A short uppercut from DeNeuve.
DeNeuve misses with a short punch on the inside.

DeNeuve lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
DeNeuve presses Fatiman against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Fatiman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but DeNeuve pulls him back up using the underhooks.

DeNeuve has picked Fatiman up - he's going for a ride! DeNeuve dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fatiman is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with DeNeuve in particular looking to stall.
DeNeuve continues to stall.

Fatiman gets back to full guard.
DeNeuve preventing the sweep.
DeNeuve looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Fatiman is trying to control the position but DeNeuve postures up.
DeNeuve being controlled here momentarily.
Fatiman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. DeNeuve manages to get himself to full guard.

DeNeuve on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if DeNeuve tries to get out of the position.
Fatiman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fatiman trying to control the position from guard on top but DeNeuve is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fatiman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fatiman trying to control but DeNeuve is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fatiman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! DeNeuve is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fatiman, into his guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fatiman holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thor DeNeuve dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Wilner Fatiman's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


DeNeuve with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Fatiman walks into a stiff left hand from DeNeuve.
DeNeuve misses the jab.
Fatiman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts DeNeuve as he jumps to the side.
DeNeuve cracks Fatiman with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nice cross by DeNeuve.


Fatiman is rocked!

Fatiman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. DeNeuve manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fatiman is still in real trouble! Can DeNeuve finish him?
Fatiman throws a big right hand that misses.
DeNeuve wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Fatiman seems to have recovered his senses.
Fatiman passes DeNeuve's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fatiman is looking to take a break and control but DeNeuve is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fatiman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Fatiman is keen to just control but DeNeuve is a slippery customer.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fatiman connects with a nice short shot to DeNeuve's temple.
DeNeuve is staying active underneath Fatiman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
DeNeuve is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
DeNeuve is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fatiman can do to turn this around?
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fatiman lands a nice short elbow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fatiman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Fatiman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so DeNeuve is just riding it out for now. Fatiman eventually gives up the hold.
DeNeuve keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Fatiman is trying to work for a kimura but DeNeuve is defending well.
DeNeuve is trying to get back to full guard.
Fatiman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

DeNeuve is defending against the submission attempts here by Fatiman.

Fatiman is working for a submission of some sort.
Fatiman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fatiman is trying to control. DeNeuve wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
We've been informed that Fatiman has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
DeNeuve scores with a jab to the jaw.
Fatiman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as DeNeuve throws out the jab.

Fatiman slips under a jab.
DeNeuve misses with a looping left.
DeNeuve is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
DeNeuve waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Fatiman.
Fatiman has his takedown stuffed
and DeNeuve connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Thor DeNeuve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilner Fatiman.
DeNeuve leaves Fatiman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fatiman gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! DeNeuve gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Fatiman is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thor DeNeuve!
Thor DeNeuve is the new featherweight champion!
Thor DeNeuve decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
