PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Apollo Creed (ranked 1369 p4p, 197 weight class) and Victor Sharp (ranked 774 p4p, 120 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Creed might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to James Brown - Living in America. Sharp has chosen Immortal Technique-Cause Of Death as his entrance music. Victor Sharp will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Victor Sharp!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharp walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Creed checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Creed throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Creed misses with a hook
and Sharp counters with a right hand to the body.
Sharp lands an overhand right.
Sharp lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sharp.
Creed throws a chopping leg kick but Sharp manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Creed throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sharp.
A left lands for Sharp.
Sharp throws a body punch but Creed moves out of range.
Creed pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A good leg kick by Sharp.
Sharp takes a swing at Creed's ribcage but misses.
A thudding body kick lands there by Sharp!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Creed moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sharp tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Creed is able to avoid easily.
Creed tries a head kick but it misses.

Good exchange - Sharp coming out on top.
Sharp is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Sharp scores with a jab and follows up with an uppercut that drops Creed to his knees! He bounces straight back to his feet but is forced to take the mandatory standing 8 count before he's allowed to continue. We're back under way and the fighters meet in the middle of the canvas to re-engage.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A looping hook to the body misses from Creed. Sharp does a little dance to reset his feet.

Creed lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Having scored a knockdown, Victor Sharp should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
That's time! Creed's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Crunch! Creed slams his shin into Sharp's torso.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Creed swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A nice side step and Sharp releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Sharp lands a nice leg kick that just misses Creed's sensitive parts.
Creed stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Creed stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sharp.
Creed pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Creed loads up on a big right hand but Sharp slips the punch.
Sharp tries a quick counter leg kick but Creed is wise to it.
Creed looks to land a body kick but Sharp moved away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sharp crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Creed - the referee stops the clock and Sharp gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Creed. Sharp manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

That was a close second round but I would say that Apollo Creed will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Sharp will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Creed looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Creed is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Creed fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sharp.

Creed tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Sharp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Creed's Muay Thai looks sharper than normal. He has obviously been working on it in the gym.
Creed steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sharp. That one must have hurt.
Sharp takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Sharp tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Creed is able to avoid easily.
Sharp moves out of range as Creed strikes.
Creed throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Sharp is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sharp lands a glancing blow to the side of Creed's head.

I would just about give that final round to Victor Sharp.
I think Sharp has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
