PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Antwan Carr (ranked 25270 p4p, 0 weight class) and Choke Slam (ranked 8443 p4p, 650 weight class). Slam has chosen MGK ft. Kid Rock - Bad Motherfucker as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Antwan Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Choke Slam!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slam takes a swing at Carr's ribcage but misses.

Slam gets a clinch.

Slam successfully pulls guard.
Carr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Slam seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Carr is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Carr trying to control but Slam is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carr is really struggling to control Slam but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Slam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Slam pulls Carr in close to prevent any damage.
Carr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Slam works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Carr loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slam is keeping the position for now.

Carr is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Carr in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Slam is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carr defends well.
Carr wants to control from the top but Slam keeps moving.
Carr working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Carr has closed the distance and engaged Slam in a clinch.

Slam jumps guard and drags Carr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Slam is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Carr avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Slam preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Carr is looking to work some ground and pound but Slam has wrist control.
Carr throwing strikes but missing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carr lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Carr passes into half guard.
Slam trying to control from the bottom.
Slam wants to get back to full guard.

Carr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Slam doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Carr.
Carr not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Antwan Carr will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Slam manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Slam is looking for a triangle but Carr pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Slam has his hands clasped together around Carr's back. He's all about the action.
Carr landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carr in particular looking to stall.
Slam is trying to maintain the position but Carr is very close to passing his half guard.

Carr is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Slam has managed to free his arm - good work.

Carr seems to be looking for submissions.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Slam is trying to get back to full guard.
Slam has hold of Carr's hands but Carr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Carr is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slam can do to turn this around?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carr throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Slam to regain full guard.
Carr with a flurry of punches that miss.

Slam looking for subs off his back but Carr has passed one foot through into half guard.
Carr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slam keeps working.
Slam punching from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Slam works his way to full guard. Good work.
Carr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Slam's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Carr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Slam has his foot on Carr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carr works his way back into a safe position though.

Carr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Slam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carr has managed to get both his arms back between Slam's legs - danger averted.
Slam takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Slam has momentary wrist control but Carr slips an elbow through the middle.
Slam is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Carr is stalling in the full guard.
Carr postures up in Slam's guard and throws a big left but Slam blocks it.
Carr wants to control from the top but Slam keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Slam closes the distance and pushes Carr back into the cage.
Carr really is a fat lump.
A shot in the inside from Slam.
A head punch on the inside from Carr fails to land.
Carr tries to pull guard but Slam won't allow it.

Slam pulls guard effortlessly.
Carr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Slam controls Carr momentarily but Carr frees himself.
Carr slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Choke Slam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Carr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Slam's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Choke Slam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
