Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Payne (ranked 6041 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Simpson (ranked 5911 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payne gets a double leg takedown into Simpson's guard.
Payne being controlled here momentarily.
Payne postures up in Simpson's guard and throws a big left but Simpson blocks it.
Simpson keeping full guard, as Payne tries to pass.
Simpson pulls Payne in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Payne wants to control from the top but Simpson keeps moving.
Simpson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Payne working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Simpson's head.
Payne wanted to stand there but Simpson had control of the position.

Simpson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Payne looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Payne is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Payne wants to control but Simpson postures up.
Simpson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Simpson with the ground and pound but Payne regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Payne wants to sweep but no luck.

Payne scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Payne gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Simpson counters with a shoot takedown. Payne fights it but they end up in guard.
Payne on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Payne tries to get out of the position.

Payne is striking off his back. Simpson thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Payne utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That was a close round but I would say that Jamie Payne will probably get the nod.

Payne closes this distance looking for a takedown but Simpson circles away.
Payne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Simpson avoids it really well and circles away.

Simpson gets tackled into the cage by Payne. Payne maintains the clinch.
Simpson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Payne after a bit of a struggle.
Payne with an attempt at a knee that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simpson manages to break the clinch.
Payne shoots in looking for a takedown but Simpson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Payne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Simpson dives in for a single leg takedown but Payne sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Simpson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Payne sprawls well initially but Simpson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Payne tries to get to full guard but Simpson has control of the leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Simpson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Payne is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Simpson passes to side control.

Simpson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Payne to take his back!
Payne rolls, trying to escape but Simpson keeps control of the position.

Payne is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Payne tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Simpson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Payne throws a strike off his back but Simpson has locked in an arm triangle as a counter!! Payne gives up his back to escape but now Simpson has transitioned to a rear naked choke! That looks tight - Payne has tapped out! This one is all over!
