Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alonso Holland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Green Velvet!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velvet fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Holland swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Velvet with a poor takedown

and Holland holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Holland turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Velvet wants to control but Holland postures up.

Holland decides to stand back up. Holland steps back and let's Velvet get back to his feet.
Velvet misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Holland throws a big counter combination but Velvet scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Alonso Holland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Green Velvet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velvet shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Holland is looking for a counter combo.
Velvet shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Holland as he jumps to the side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velvet shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Holland defends it nicely.
Holland throws a big counter combination but Velvet scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Velvet is defended easily by Holland.

Holland shoots in and bounces Velvet off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Holland has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Holland drops back looking for a leg! Velvet is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Velvet manages to kick Holland off! Holland jumps back into Velvet's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holland trying to stand up but can't free himself from Velvet's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velvet working for a triangle but Holland defends it easily.

Holland avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Holland lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velvet is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Holland frees his head nicely. Oh but Velvet has switched to an armbar! Holland is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Green Velvet!
Green Velvet decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
