Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Saleem Al Khan (ranked 17262 p4p, 765 weight class) and Jimmy Hopkins (ranked 2909 p4p, 346 weight class). Al Khan comes to the cage accompanied by Three Days Grace - Scared. Jimmy Hopkins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Saleem Al Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Hopkins!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Hopkins slams his shin into Al Khan's torso.

and Hopkins counters with a right hand to the body.
Hopkins throws a head kick but Al Khan moves out of range.

Al Khan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hopkins to the ground. Al Khan is now in Hopkins's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hopkins takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hopkins manages to work his way to half guard, despite Al Khan's best efforts.

Hopkins felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Al Khan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hopkins dives on top into guard.

Hopkins gets to his feet - Al Khan follows without any prompting.
Hopkins will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Hopkins scores with a jab to the jaw.
Al Khan darts in looking for a takedown but Hopkins gets double underhooks and turns Al Khan into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Hopkins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Al Khan. That did some damage!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hopkins tries a head kick but it misses.

A solid leg kick lands there for Hopkins.
Saleem Al Khan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Al Khan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hopkins's waist but Hopkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Al Khan off to one side.

Al Khan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hopkins defends well and Al Khan ends up having to push Hopkins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Al Khan is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Al Khan shoots in but no luck this time.
Al Khan gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hopkins.

Hopkins cracks Al Khan with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Al Khan looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Hopkins finish him?

Hopkins stuffs the takedown.
Oh Al Khan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hopkins finds Al Khan's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Al Khan flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Hopkins lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Al Khan will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jimmy Hopkins!
Our winner, Jimmy Hopkins, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
