The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nice shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Davies is trying to defend but Nice finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Davies kicks off Nice and gets to his feet.

Davies tries to sprawl but Nice drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Nice knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davies on the ground.

Davies makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Davies.
Nice is looking to work some ground and pound but Davies has wrist control.

Davies has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nice can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Davies bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nice's guard.

Nice is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davies is controlling him.

Davies wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nice keeps working.
Nice is looking to escape.
Nice trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Davies thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nice's head.
Nice could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nice is not content to let Davies control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Davies tries to clinch but Nice is having none of it.

Nice looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Davies has hold of Nice's hands but Nice slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nice connects with a nice short shot to Davies's temple.

Nice working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
