And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clay Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stonedberg moves away.
Matthews scores with a nice head shot.
Michael Stonedberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stonedberg misses with a straight right.
Matthews missing with a left hand there. Stonedberg was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Stonedberg lands with a hook. Matthews tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stonedberg tries to clinch up but Matthews circles away and keeps his distance.
Stonedberg needs to keep his hands up - Matthews had a free shot at his head there.
Matthews lands a nice leg kick that just misses Stonedberg's sensitive parts.
Stonedberg avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Matthews has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Stonedberg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matthews moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Matthews displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stonedberg throws out the jab.

Stonedberg looks to throw the jab but Matthews is out of range.

Stonedberg stuns Matthews with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Stonedberg feints and then cracks Matthews's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Matthews down.
A slow jab from Stonedberg misses its intended target.
Stonedberg tries a head kick but it misses.
A nice leg kick lands there from Stonedberg.
Stonedberg throws a big shot that misses.
Matthews uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Stonedberg has time to react.
Stonedberg throws a push kick but Matthews slaps the foot to one side.
Stonedberg throws a solid leg kick but Matthews takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Stonedberg.
A little jabbing left from Matthews on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Stonedberg lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stonedberg steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Matthews.
Stonedberg misses with a looping left.
Matthews looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Matthews ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Matthews misses with a wild body shot.
Stonedberg checks a leg kick nicely.
Matthews moves out of range of the body kick.
Matthews keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Stonedberg avoids the body shot from Matthews.
Stonedberg lands with a slapping head kick.
Stonedberg throws a head kick but Matthews moves out of range.
Matthews looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
A lazy left from Stonedberg finds it's target.
Stonedberg goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Stonedberg takes a kick to the side of the head.
Stonedberg tries to land a body kick
and Matthews cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Matthews wants to stay close but Stonedberg steps back to make room for something. Matthews seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Stonedberg and Matthews drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
