Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rod Jackson (ranked 22691 p4p, 740 weight class) and Yoel Matienzo (ranked 9410 p4p, 711 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yoel Matienzo!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matienzo throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Matienzo looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Jackson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


It looks like Yoel Matienzo has been cut.
Jackson cracks Matienzo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Jackson cracks Matienzo with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Matienzo looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Jackson finish him?

The crowd cheers as Matienzo lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jackson doesn't seem phased though.

Jackson swings for the body but Matienzo moves out of range.

Matienzo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jackson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Matienzo doesn't seem bothered though.

Jackson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Matienzo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Matienzo is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Jackson with a body shot.

Matienzo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jackson seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jackson sends Matienzo crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Jackson is motioning to the referee to let Matienzo up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rod Jackson!
In his post fight interview, Rod Jackson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Yoel Matienzo spoke after the fight, saying 'Well that sucked dick. Fuck you I tried'.
