PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joh Fabnik (ranked 6000 p4p, 264 weight class) and Brain Fog (ranked 8646 p4p, 324 weight class). Fabnik kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is COLD. Joh Fabnik has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joh Fabnik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brain Fog!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fabnik swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fabnik throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Fabnik moves into the clinch.
Fog lands a left hand.
Fog tries to land knees in the clinch but Fabnik avoids the damage to the body.
Fog lands a body shot.

Fog gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Fabnik being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fog thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fabnik has his hands on Fog's head, controlling the position.

Fog controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Fog has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fog displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fabnik throws out the jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fog.
Fog shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fabnik pinned against the ropes. Fabnik gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fabnik defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fog.
Joh Fabnik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brain Fog.
Fog shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fabnik as he avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fog.
Fabnik tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Fog manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fabnik just misses with a punch to the body.
Fog shoots in but Fabnik avoids the takedown attempt easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Fabnik misses the target.
Fabnik looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fabnik tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Fog paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brain Fog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fabnik throws a solid leg kick but Fog takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Fabnik.
Nice takedown defense from Fabnik. No joy for Fog on that attempt.
Fog is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fabnik sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Fog fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fabnik avoids it really well and circles away.
Fabnik misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fog tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Fabnik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fog shoots in for a double leg but Fabnik sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fabnik tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Fog manages to circle out of the way.
Horrible takedown attempt by Fog or perhaps it was just good defense by Fabnik, which made it look bad.
Fabnik misses with a leg kick.
Fabnik pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Fog checks a leg kick.
Fabnik pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Fog fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Fog misses with a takedown attempt - Fabnik sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fabnik wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Fog keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fabnik.
Fabnik misses the shot to the body.

Fog darts in looking for a takedown but Fabnik gets double underhooks and turns Fog into the ropes.
Joh Fabnik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fog fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fabnik is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fog shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fabnik as he jumps to the side.
Fog has a takedown stuffed.
Fabnik misses with a wild body shot.

Fog scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fog happy to just control the position for now.
Fabnik struggling a bit here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joh Fabnik dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Fog scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fog happy to just control the position for now.
Fog misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Fog slows the pace down.
Fog is continuing to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fabnik tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Fog easily slips into full mount!
Fabnik has given up his back. Will we see Fog going for some submissions?
Fog controlling the position well here. Fabnik rolled but Fog kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Fog looking to break Fabnik's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Fabnik remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Fog will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Fog's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Fog looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Fog is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Fabnik is tapping out! This one is all over!
