PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johannes Brahms (ranked 2067 p4p, 199 weight class) and Agustin Benitez (ranked 2237 p4p, 211 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brahms might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hungarian Dance. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 2, fighting out of New York, Johannes Brahms!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Agustin Benitez!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benitez swings widly with a right hand
enabling Brahms to counter with a crisp jab.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Brahms.
Brahms throws a jab when Benitez was well out of range.
Benitez raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Benitez connects with a nice looking jab.
Benitez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Nice uppercut lands for Brahms. That snapped Benitez's head back.
Benitez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Brahms counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brahms won't allow Benitez to get back to his feet.
Brahms stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benitez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Benitez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brahms is controlling him.

Benitez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brahms lands a hook that snaps the head of Benitez backwards.

Benitez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Brahms lands a head kick!

Benitez is rocked!
Benitez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Benitez thows a left - swing and a miss!
Benitez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Benitez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Benitez throws a sloppy head kick
and Brahms counters with a stiff right hand.
Benitez throws a series of punches but Brahms moves out of range.
A counter left hand to the body from Brahms misses its target.
Nice jab there from Brahms.
Benitez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brahms circles away quickly and effectively.
Benitez has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Brahms stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Benitez is still on wobbly legs! Can Brahms finish him?
Agustin Benitez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benitez misses with a straight right.
Benitez seems to have recovered his senses.

This has been an exciting period of action!

and Brahms counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Benitez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brahms circles away quickly and effectively.
Benitez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brahms was well out of range. Poor timing from Benitez.
Brahms lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Brahms lands with a good body shot.
Brahms connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The fighters circle, before Brahms throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Benitez's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Brahms lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
