PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Parker (ranked 138 p4p, 20 weight class) and Max Handle (ranked 713 p4p, 100 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Handle's choice of entrance music: Right On. Max Handle told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Parker!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Handle!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Handle swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
It looked like Parker was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Parker tries to clinch up.
Parker connects with a crisp jab.
Parker moves in looking to clinch but Handle pushes him off.
Handle slips a jab from Parker.
Handle throws a jab but it's blocked by Parker.
Handle throws a hook but Parker avoids it easily.
Parker tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Handle manages to circle out of the way.

Handle tries to keep at a distance but Parker has taken the fight into the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Handle has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Handle lands with a light punch inside.
Handle will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Parker up against the cage.

Handle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parker throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Parker swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Parker fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Handle on the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Some wild striking there from Handle.
Parker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Handle.
Handle throws a right hand that Parker ducks under and follows up with a left that Parker also avoids with ease.
Parker is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Handle.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Parker swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Handle.
Parker showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Handle.
Handle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Parker gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Parker.


Handle is rocked!
Parker lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Handle is still on wobbly legs! Can Parker finish him?

Parker drops Handle onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Handle is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Parker blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Handle wants to break free but Parker has control.
Parker prevents Handle from breaking the clinch.
Parker goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Handle takes a shot to the head.
Handle blocks an uppercut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Parker.
Parker working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Parker misses with some punches.
Parker lands a body punch in the clinch.
Handle looks winded!
Parker scores with a nice hook to the head.
Handle is trying to force a seperation but Parker has the dominant position.
Parker blocks a body shot from Handle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Parker pushes Handle back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Handle misses with a hook from the clinch.

Parker manages to break the clinch.
Handle drops his hands for a split second and Parker immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Handle face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Parker follows up with a right hand that knocks Handle into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Peter Parker!
Peter Parker retains his middleweight title!
An out of breath and clearly excited Peter Parker thanked Red Light Coffeeshop for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
