PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan McCarthy (ranked 1504 p4p, 154 weight class) and Rami Astalo (ranked 1466 p4p, 150 weight class). Astalo has chosen Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff as his entrance music. Rami Astalo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Ryan McCarthy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rami Astalo!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Astalo counters with a slapping leg kick.
McCarthy on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Astalo thows a body kick. McCarthy tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Astalo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Astalo looks to score with a jab to the body but McCarthy is just out of range.
McCarthy throws a leg kick
and Astalo counters with an outside leg kick.

McCarthy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

McCarthy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Astalo defends it well.

McCarthy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McCarthy passes the guard and advances to mount!
Astalo is wriggling around trying to escape.

Astalo is bucking up trying to escape but McCarthy cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

McCarthy working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Astalo looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by McCarthy! Submission of the night perhaps?

A very excited looking Ryan McCarthy made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Rami Astalo was interviewed post fight and said 'Nothing to say but fuck off,gonna smoke joint or two'.
