PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matteo Boretti (ranked 3851 p4p, 395 weight class) and Ivashin Dmitrievich (ranked 3801 p4p, 389 weight class). Boretti comes to the cage accompanied by Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivashin Dmitrievich!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dmitrievich stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Boretti looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dmitrievich avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Boretti misses with a leg kick
and Dmitrievich counters with a two punch combo.
Dmitrievich ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Dmitrievich misses with a straight right.
Boretti fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Boretti misses with a right hand
and Dmitrievich counters with a three punch combo that has Boretti backing up. Boretti nods at Dmitrievich to acknowledge the strikes.
Dmitrievich throws a series of punches but Boretti avoids them all with ease.
Dmitrievich's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Boretti connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dmitrievich scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dmitrievich lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Good work by Dmitrievich as he checks the leg kick.
Boretti tries a head kick but it misses.
Boretti pivots, looking for a leg kick but Dmitrievich is out of range and Boretti settles back down.
Dmitrievich scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Boretti with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Boretti tries a low kick but Dmitrievich avoids it.
Boretti throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Ivashin Dmitrievich has been cut.
Dmitrievich dodges the punch combination from Boretti.
Boretti throws a low kick but Dmitrievich moves out of range easily.

Dmitrievich misses with a looping right.

Dmitrievich takes a swing at Boretti's ribcage but misses.
Dmitrievich works Boretti's body with a nice hook.
Boretti scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Dmitrievich throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Boretti half committed to a counter leg kick.
Dmitrievich scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Good shot there by Dmitrievich.
Matteo Boretti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boretti misses with a low kick.
A little jabbing left from Dmitrievich on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Dmitrievich is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Dmitrievich misses the shot to the body.
Dmitrievich misses with a straight left.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Some bone on bone action there as Dmitrievich checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Boretti throws a jab but it's blocked by Dmitrievich.
Dmitrievich unleashes a big counter combination but Boretti bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Dmitrievich keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Boretti uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dmitrievich.

Boretti throws a hook but Dmitrievich blocks it.
Dmitrievich swings widly with a right hand
and Boretti counters with a good low kick that Dmitrievich was not able to check.
Boretti throws a low kick but Dmitrievich avoids it.
Dmitrievich checks a leg kick.
Boretti missing with a left hand there. Dmitrievich was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Boretti connects with a right hand. Dmitrievich shakes it off.
Nice uppercut lands for Boretti. That snapped Dmitrievich's head back.
Dmitrievich misses with a two punch combination.
Dmitrievich lands with a straight right. Boretti didn't see that one coming.
Boretti misses with a lunging right hand
and Dmitrievich counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Boretti shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Boretti looks to throw the jab but Dmitrievich is out of range.
Dmitrievich throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dmitrievich is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Boretti had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Dmitrievich connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boretti's hands.
Dmitrievich gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Dmitrievich has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Boretti lands a big head kick that sends Dmitrievich tumbling to the mat! Boretti takes a step backwards and waves Dmitrievich back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Dmitrievich has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boretti looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Boretti backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Dmitrievich's temple! It sends Dmitrievich violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Boretti celebrates and the doctors try to help Dmitrievich!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Matteo Boretti!
A relieved looking Matteo Boretti thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
