Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Smith (ranked 2932 p4p, 325 weight class) and Remy Valentine (ranked 2324 p4p, 262 weight class). Valentine is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Man with the Harmonica by Ennio Morricone. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Valentine jabs Smith to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Valentine lands a nice looking body shot.

Smith moves into the clinch.
Valentine lands an uppercut.
Valentine is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Valentine down to the mat. Valentine avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Remy Valentine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valentine wants to land a leg kick but Smith is out of range.
Valentine takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Smith misses with a few strikes there.
Valentine tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Valentine.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We've been informed that Valentine has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.

Valentine has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Smith is on him like a limpet, forcing Valentine back against the cage.

Smith takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Smith takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Smith chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Valentine can pounce on him.

Valentine sends Smith crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Valentine is motioning to the referee to let Smith up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Valentine feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Smith sprawling to the canvas! Smith rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Valentine finish him?!

Smith is rocked!

Valentine stuns Smith with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Valentine darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Smith's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Valentine before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
