Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nacho Stiffy (ranked 5316 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Bassett (ranked 6304 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nacho Stiffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Bassett!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stiffy lands with a nice body punch.
Bassett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stiffy pinned against the cage. Stiffy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bassett avoids the body shot from Stiffy.
Stiffy throws a body punch but Bassett moves out of range.
Stiffy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Bassett gets a double leg takedown into Stiffy's guard.
Stiffy looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Stiffy continues to stall.
Stiffy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bassett on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bassett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bassett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bassett tries to free his leg and advance position but Stiffy is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stiffy has control of Bassett's left arm, preventing Bassett from doing any damage.
Stiffy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Stiffy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Bassett is looking to work some ground and pound but Stiffy has wrist control.
Stiffy seems keen to control Bassett's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bassett paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Stiffy cracks Bassett with a good jab.
Bassett with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Stiffy to score with a decent uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stiffy lands with a hook. Bassett tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Bassett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stiffy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stiffy lands a jab to Bassett's midsection.
Stiffy lands with a hook. Bassett tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stiffy scores with a nice head shot.
Bassett misses with a takedown
letting Stiffy counter with a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bassett tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stiffy bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Bassett's head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Bassett has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stiffy finds it's way round the side to connect with Bassett's head.
Stiffy lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


Bassett is rocked!
Bassett walks into a left hand.
Bassett is still on wobbly legs! Can Stiffy finish him?
Stiffy drops Bassett with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Bassett! Stiffy dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nacho Stiffy!
Nacho Stiffy decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
