Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Smith (ranked 2322 p4p, 305 weight class) and Christian Volland (ranked 2975 p4p, 383 weight class). Smith kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Therion - Sitra Ahra. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christian Volland!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Some bone on bone action there as Smith checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Volland manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Volland replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Smith blocks it well.
Volland throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
Volland looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.

Smith thows a leg kick but Volland checks it
and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Volland is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Smith connects with the punch.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Volland rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Volland swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Volland forces Smith back against the cage and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Smith connects with a high kick.
Good standup being displayed there by Smith as he connects with a hook.
Volland scores with a jab.
Smith cracks Volland with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Volland is rocked!
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Volland moves out of range easily.
Volland is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Volland closes the distance looking to clinch
and Smith counters with a big right hand! Oh Volland is in trouble here! Smith follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
