Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Numbers Hull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Subtatanion Kijo!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hull looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hull enables Kijo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hull manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hull is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kijo is controlling him.
Kijo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hull works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kijo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hull knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hull stops Kijo from passing to mount.
Hull parries the strikes from Kijo easily there. Kijo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hull to escape.

Kijo is trying to get an arm triangle but Hull is defending well.

Hull knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kijo on the ground.

Kijo throws an elbow but Hull slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hull pushes Kijo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kijo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Hull holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Kijo throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hull works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Kijo is looking for a kimura here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kijo is looking for a kimura but Hull is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kijo to get the leverage.
Hull wants to control but Kijo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hull wants to get back to full guard but Kijo has passed into side control.

Kijo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kijo is trying to get an arm triangle but Hull is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kijo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Kijo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kijo blocks the strikes from Hull.
Hull is trying to maintain the position but Kijo is very close to passing his half guard.
Hull tries to kick Kijo off but Kijo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kijo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kijo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hull has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hull pushes Kijo off but Kijo dives into side control.

Kijo is trying to get an arm triangle but Hull is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Hull's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hull managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kijo.
Kijo has control of an arm but Hull manages to advance to Kijo's back!
You can see the frustration on Kijo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Kijo is trying to stand back up.

Hull has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Kijo looking very determined here, making life difficult for Hull.
Kijo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kijo is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Hull off. It looks like it's working - Hull slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Kijo displaying calm under pressure there.
Hull fails with the takedown
and Kijo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hull darts in looking for a takedown but Kijo gets double underhooks and turns Hull into the cage.
Kijo wants to counter with a clinch but Hull pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kijo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kijo showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kijo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hull is looking to improve his position.

Kijo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hull tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kijo!
