PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Saint-Perrilloux (ranked 1375 p4p, 185 weight class) and Chris Severn (ranked 2417 p4p, 324 weight class). Saint-Perrilloux comes to the cage accompanied by Back In The Saddle. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacques Saint-Perrilloux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 26 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Severn!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saint-Perrilloux's jab looks to have found its range, popping Severn under the eye.


It looks like Chris Severn has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Saint-Perrilloux. Severn does a little dance to reset his feet.
Saint-Perrilloux pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Severn throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Saint-Perrilloux.
Severn cracks Saint-Perrilloux with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Saint-Perrilloux tries to clinch up
and Severn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Saint-Perrilloux loads up on a big right hand but Severn slips the punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Severn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Saint-Perrilloux's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Severn is fighting to break Saint-Perrilloux's control of his arms but Saint-Perrilloux is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Saint-Perrilloux throws a nice looking combination but Severn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

We've been hearing good reports from Saint-Perrilloux's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacques Saint-Perrilloux will probably get the nod.

I would just about give that final round to Chris Severn.
