PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bork Laser (ranked 4525 p4p, 458 weight class) and Ice Tea (ranked 5109 p4p, 508 weight class). Laser comes to the cage accompanied by Enforcer. Ice Tea has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laser tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Tea counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Laser wants to stand back up but Tea manages to pass into side control.
Tea slows the pace down.
Let's hope that Tea has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like Tea might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Tea's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Tea counters with a nice double leg into side control. Laser won't be happy with that.

Tea stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Laser looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Laser has taken the fight to the clinch.
Tea is working for takedown but Laser is calmly controlling the position for now.
Tea jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Laser walks away with a smile on his face. Tea gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Tea told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ice Tea dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Tea keeps the fight on the outside.
Laser swings for the body but Tea moves out of range.
Tea changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Laser has managed to clinch.
Laser landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Tea breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Laser moves in looking to clinch but Tea pushes him off.

Tea tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Laser just stands there and leans against the cage.

Bork Laser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ice Tea.

Tea lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Tea is looking to take a break and control but Laser is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tea is breathing heavily.
Tea content to control rather than advance.
Tea wants to stand up but Laser has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Tea seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Laser scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Tea manages to mount him!
Laser squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Laser bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Laser wants to stand but Tea has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tea has an active guard here but Laser has managed to pass into half guard.
Laser wants to stand up but Tea is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Laser stands up out of the half guard.
Laser scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Laser tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tea paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tea takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Laser doesn't manage to clinch there - Tea circles away.
Bork Laser is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tea drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Laser defends it well.
Laser shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Tea eats them both and turns towards Laser to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Bork Laser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's time! Laser's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Tea has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Laser doesn't defend quickly enough and Tea has managed to lock this one up! Can Laser escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Tea on a fantastic submission victory.
