Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michel Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saitama Ryuuji!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook takes one on the button.

Ryuuji fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cook sprawls well initially but Ryuuji persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cook is staying active underneath Ryuuji, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ryuuji is thwarting Cook's attempts to control the position.
Ryuuji not doing much here.
Cook really is a fat lump.
Ryuuji is keen to just control but Cook is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ryuuji looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryuuji decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Cook jumps into guard, dragging Ryuuji to the mat.
Ryuuji stays in close to Cook's body and controls the position.
It looks like Ryuuji might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Cook looking for a guillotine here but Ryuuji defends easily.

Ryuuji drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ryuuji jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cook decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Cook gets caught flat footed, as Ryuuji shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ryuuji wants to stand but Cook has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cook is trying to control the position but Ryuuji postures up.
Ryuuji must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cook is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ryuuji is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ryuuji shoots in and bounces Cook off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cook enables Ryuuji to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cook manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Cook looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ryuuji pushes down on Cook's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Ryuuji wants to control but Cook is keeping him busy.
Cook tries to get to full guard but Ryuuji has control of the leg.

Cook manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ryuuji's best efforts.

Ryuuji wants to work for an arm triangle but Cook is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ryuuji wants to take a breather but Cook is having none of it.

Saitama Ryuuji showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cook's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Ryuuji scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Cook manages to mount him!

Cook lands a big shot there that rocks Ryuuji but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ryuuji wants to control but Cook is having none of it.

Cook is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Ryuuji shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cook napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ryuuji tries to advance to mount but Cook denies him.
Cook tries to bench press Ryuuji off him but Ryuuji keeps the position.
Cook isn't going anywhere.
You can see the frustration on Cook's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ryuuji decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ryuuji throws a half hearted mid kick.
Ryuuji just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromCook.

Ryuuji throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cook tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ryuuji is in Cook's guard.
Ryuuji wants to get up but he can't break Cook's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cook avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cook keeping moving, preventing Ryuuji from controlling successfully.
Ryuuji takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cook wants to control but Ryuuji passes easily into half guard.
