PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Savage (ranked 6880 p4p, 630 weight class) and Ivan Arago (ranked 7853 p4p, 677 weight class). Savage comes into the arena with Pomp & Circumstance blaring out of the sound system. Arago is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Russian Power. Ivan Arago told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Savage wants it to stay on the feet.
Savage circles away from the clinch attempt
and Savage counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Savage gets caught napping as Arago dives in and scores a takedown. Savage manages to retain guard.
Arago is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Arago keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Savage's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arago throws a big right hand that misses.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Arago drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Savage manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Arago has Savage in his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Arago is on top in guard.

Savage is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Bobby's Bench Shop that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Arago wants to control from the top but Savage keeps moving.
Arago is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Arago has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
