PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murha Pate (ranked 196 p4p, 30 weight class) and The Mighty Quinn (ranked 670 p4p, 98 weight class). Quinn is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Mighty Quinn. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pate has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Pate works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Pate misses with a left hand
and Quinn makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
An inside leg kick from Pate misses.
Pate seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Quinn drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Quinn takes a swing at Pate's ribcage but misses.
Pate looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

and Pate finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Murha Pate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pate lands a leg kick that knocks Quinn off balance momentarily.
Pate throws a body punch but Quinn moves out of range.
Pate bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Quinn's head backwards.
Quinn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pate on the side of the head.
Quinn misses with a looping left.
Pate feints and then cracks Quinn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Quinn down.
Quinn takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Pate lands a nice hook to Quinn's body. Quinn takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Quinn takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Quinn throws out a loose jab but Pate uses good head movement to avoid it.

Pate has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
