Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cam Newton (ranked 588 p4p, 83 weight class) and Satoshi Tanahashi (ranked 708 p4p, 105 weight class). Newton comes to the cage accompanied by Superman. Tanahashi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Blood Stain Child - Stargazer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Satoshi Tanahashi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
25 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cam Newton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Satoshi Tanahashi!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanahashi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tanahashi goes for a double leg but Newton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Newton continues to drive forward.
Tanahashi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tanahashi lands in his opponent's guard.
Newton wants to stand up but Tanahashi is controlling him.
Tanahashi is looking to work some ground and pound but Newton has wrist control.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Tanahashi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Newton is looking to stand up but Tanahashi isn't so interested in that idea.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tanahashi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tanahashi is in close to Newton's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Newton has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Tanahashi has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Newton manages to break the clinch.
Satoshi Tanahashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tanahashi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A cross from Tanahashi lands.
Tanahashi misses with an attempted mid kick.
Newton catches Tanahashi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
It looks like Satoshi Tanahashi has been cut.
Tanahashi gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Tanahashi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Newton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tanahashi circles away quickly and effectively.
Newton lands a nice shot that snaps Tanahashi's head back.
Tanahashi throws a head kick but Newton moves out of range.
Tanahashi throws a sloppy body shot
and Newton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Newton gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Tanahashi gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Satoshi Tanahashi!
